President John F. Kennedy was visiting NASA headquarters for the first time, in 1961. While touring the facility, he introduced himself to a janitor who was mopping the floor and asked him what he did at NASA. He stated: “I’m helping to put a man on the moon.” Most people know what they do, but in purpose-driven organizations, people know WHY. When employees know what they do, they remain, employees; when they know why, they become stakeholders. From the lowest paid person in the organization to the highest paid person, everyone should have the same common goal. When the goal is the same, you will have created something that very few can proclaim — a TEAM.
